Optimizing nutrient management through an integrated plant nutrient supply (IPNS) system
This activity aims to promote soil conservation and better organic matter management. It encourages the inclusion of legumes in cropping systems and rotations as grain, forage, or green manure crops. The initiative identifies socio-economic constraints in the adoption of IPNS at community level and appropriate policy interventions and improvements. Nitrogen contributing Sesbania as green manure is being promoted in several tank command and influence areas of MIPs. Seed production of Sesbania is also being promoted in Kharif fallows or in orchards as a second crop.
